“Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: The Pharisees and the teachers of the Law are experts in the Law of Moses. So obey everything they teach you, but don’t do as they do. After all, they say one thing and do something else. They pile heavy burdens on people’s shoulders and won’t lift a finger to help. Everything they do is just to show off in front of others. They even make a big show of wearing Scripture verses on their foreheads and arms, and they wear big tassels[a] for everyone to see. They love the best seats at banquets and the front seats in the meeting places. And when they are in the market, they like to have people greet them as their teachers.” – Matthew 23:1-7
Just because a Christian posts something on social media doesn’t mean it reflects the views of Jesus and his followers. Whether it be a scripture taken out of context or a harsh viewpoint and judgment, God never intended for people to be punished into purity. As a matter of fact when we (Christians) teach others about God, we have to realize that freedom of choice is a part of God’s world. Our own government, which was founded on Christian ideals, for better or for worse, actually protects people’s right to sin. This separation of church and state is so fundamental to the core of our democracy and prevents the United States from becoming a “Christianize” nation. I would never want to have my faith regulated by the three branches of government because we know that countries that try to impose their religion and faith on their people generally have lots of issues, believe me (lol). Furthermore, we would be placing a whole lot of confidence in our government to do things, and that’s a confidence I have yet to gain!
As Christians, we should understand that grace is the currency of our faith and the kingdom, and all of our spiritual transactions should have our balances running in the black. The bible says “All things are permissible, but not all things are profitable” 1 Cor. 10:23. So as kingdom carriers we should be aware of how we are presenting Jesus on social media and in the world so that OUR actions bring people closer to Jesus, rather than further away. After all, Jesus did say, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” – John 13:35
RIGHT ON WILL..........SO OFTEN ALLEGED CHRISTIANS CONDEMN AND JUDGE.....ALL FOR THE PURPOSE OF LEGITAMIZING PUNISHMENT. BUT THEN THEY SAY THEIR GOD FORGIVES. VERY CONTRADICTORY, NOT AT ALL UNDERSTANDABLE. HOW DO YOU SERVE BOTH, DOESN'T THEIR GOOD BOOK STATE YOU CANNOT SERVE TWO MASTERS (THE ONE WHO JUDGES AND THE ONE WHO FORGIVES .....WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY BELIEVE ????? )
